BBC Radio Sheffield Community Carol Service

Dodworth have rounded off this year in style by being invited to perform at the recording of the Radio Sheffield Community carol service this Christmas.The band recorded in front of a live audience at Swinton St Margarets Church on Sunday 17th December, along with The Bel Canto Choir and organ accompaniment. Also featured at the concert was a superb cornet solo of Away in a Manger given by our M.D Eliot Darwin accompanied by ourselves.....The concert was broadcast at 4pm on Christmas Eve and 9am Christmas Day.

We would also like to thank all players, and helpers - past and present for their hard work and commitment over the last year that has made all the succsess's possible, lets try and keep it going into next year and beyond.

Pontins

On Saturday 4th November The Band Competed at The Pontins Championships at Prestatyn North Wales, taking the Second Prize Trophy in the Fourth Section competition

National Champions 2006

On Sunday 24th September we became 4th Section National Champions of Great Britian. All our hardwork and commitment paid off as we took the title at the National Brass Band Championships held in Harrogate. Well done to all our players, helpers and supporters and thankyou to Eliot Darwin our M.D for leading the way to victory. Also well done to all the other fouth Section bands that contested on Sunday.

National Finals 2006

The Band are off to Harrogate this weekend 24th September 2006 to take part in The National Finals in the Fourth Section after our win at the Areas in March at Bradford. Many thanks to all players and supporters of Dodworth Colliery for there hard work and commitment over the past few weeks as we prepared ourselves. Good luck to all the other competing bands in the Fourth Section and in particular to Emley Brass who are also representing Yorkshire along with us.

Band Meal & Reunion Saturday 30th September

The Dodworth Band meal and reunion was a great event. It was great to see so many people who have been connected with Dodworth over the years renewing old aquaintences and sharing their memories and celebrating the band's recent success at The National Finals. A BIG THANKYOU to Wendy and Lol Mann who organised the event and to all the bands people who attended.

Silkstone March and Hymn Contest

Dodworth Colliery took first place for the second year running in the fourth section prizes at this annual event on 8th July 2006 which is exellently organised by our neighbours at Silkstone. With a total of nineteen competing bands on the day, Dodworth came sixth place overall. The event was another great succsess for the organisers and the evening was rounded off by an exellent concert given by competing Danish band Silkeborg Brass. Next years event will take place on 14th July 2007

Yorkshire Youth Brass Band Members

Three young members of Dodworth Colliery Band attended the first rehearsal of the newly formed Yorkshire Youth Brass Band. Josh Green on Cornet, Daniel Jackson on Euphonium and Joe Loukes on percussion rehearsed at Leeds Metropolitan University on Sunday 21st May 2006.Under the guidence of the Black Dyke Bands players and conducted by Nicholas Childs the lads spent a full day in sectionals and a performance at the end of the day to some very proud parents - a day to remember, Well done lads!

Tameside Open Championships

Following our succsess at the Area's at Bradford in March the Dodworth Colliery Band went on to take First Prize and a five point lead with another performance of Anglian Dances at The Tameside Open Championships on 26th March

Yorkshire Area Champions 4th Section 2006

The Band competed at the Yorkshire Area Championships inMarch taking First Place and a place in the National Finals to beheld in Harrogate on Sunday 24th September along with Emley Brass who took Second place.
